LANDING ZONE X-RAY

Major Crandell is finally awarded the CMOH. President Bush will present it to him in a White House ceremony later this month. In the movie, "We Were Soldiers," Crandell was played by Greg Kinnear, the Huey pilot who kept flying into a closed-HOT-landing zone to re-supply the ground troops. Many more would've died had it not been for Crandell's heroics. The ground situation eventually went to "Broken Arrow."
