BOB HOPE SALUTES NASA

No particular reason why I'm posting this today. I saw it some time back and always thought you'd like to look back at one of the greatest times in America. Well I ran across it this morning, watched it again and soon posted.

Bob Hope, NASA, and Neil Armstrong... can't go wrong there. Enjoy.

JULY 20, 1969: AMERICANS WALK ON THE MOON

Doesn't quite seem possible, but it's been 42 years since man first walked on the moon. A technological feat so awesome that I doubt it will ever be surpassed. It's one of those few "Where were you?" moments that happens in life.

Each year I try to honor the day. It's usually a proud and happy day but this year it feels different: It's a sad day since it marks the highest point in American manned space flight, and tomorrow the American manned space flight program comes to an end when Atlantis rolls to a stop on a Florida runway. Technically, NASA will still have a manned program, just no vehicle to carry American astronauts into space. If that's our goal, we'll be paying the Russians for a seat on one of their rockets. Like I said, it's a sad day.

The journey to have Americans walk on the moon didn't begin on July 20th, 1969, when Armstrong opened the Eagle's hatch; it began with John Kennedy setting a goal for America back in the early 1960s. JFK didn't live to see the day nor did his brother Robert. Brother Ted was otherwise preoccupied, securing a good legal defense team.

On the morning of July 16th, 1969, Apollo 11 sat atop the towering Atlas V rocket on launch pad 39-A. The Florida weather was in a cooperative mood. The goal of the mission was simply stated: send a man to the moon and return him safely. Buzz Aldrin recalls the moments just before being strapped in for launch:

"While Mike and Neil were going through the complicated business of being strapped in and connected to the spacecraft's life-support system, I waited near the elevator on the floor below. I waited alone for fifteen minutes in a sort of serene limbo. As far as I could see there were people and cars lining the beaches and highways. The surf was just beginning to rise out of an azure-blue ocean. I could see the massiveness of the Saturn V rocket below and the magnificent precision of Apollo above. I savored the wait and marked the minutes in my mind as something I would always want to remember."

Yes, we will always want to remember. God Bless America.

THE GOLDEN RULE: HE WHO HAS THE GOLD, MAKES THE RULES--Updated

Joe Kennedy, Sr. had the gold, and he made the rules.

Andrea Shea King has been reading about the Kennedy clan's headmaster, Joe, Sr., in the book Sins of the Father, and last night she was treated to the controversial TV mini-series, The Kennedys.

At the
Radio Patriot, Andrea gives you a glimpse into the book and the first installment of The Kennedys.

UPDATE:
While posting this, I had Fox & Friends on in the background waiting for The Donald to make his newly scheduled morning appearance. Trump was on to comment on the latest news about the economy and the raging fires in the Middle East. No Eligibility issue comments from what I could tell, so I guess that issue, at least for The Donald, is over.

But then came the closing interview of the day: Bush 43's wife was hawking a new book, talking about freedom in America, blah, blah, blah. Then, to close out the interview, Mrs. Bush was asked who her favorite politician was. Was it a republican? Was it Sarah Palin? Was it a conservative? None of the above--it was Hillary Clinton, of course. Her Royal Pantsuit impressed Mrs. Bush because of her fight for women's rights, the example she sets or some such bilge. Like the Kennedys, I've had more than I can take of the Bush clan.

"Miss me, yet?" Nope.

47 YEARS AGO, JFK WAS ASSASSINATED IN DALLAS, TEXAS; DR. CYRIL WECHT JOINS ANDREA TO DISCUSS THE EVENT

*If you missed Dr. Cyril Wecht's interview, here's the archived version.

It was 47 years ago today that President John F. Kennedy was gunned down while riding in his motorcade through Dallas' Dealey Plaza. JFK's limousine was open and sparsely protected. Those of us who were alive at the time remember exactly where we were when the news broadcast came over the airwaves. For me, it was CBS' Walter Cronkite who reported to my classroom that the president had in fact died at 1 PM CST at Dallas' Parkland Hospital. School was dismissed until after the funeral.

*TONIGHT on THE ANDREA SHEA KING SHOW, our guest will be
Dr. Cyril Wecht, the well known forensic pathologist who's never wavered in his beliefs that this event was not the result of a lone gunman, but that of a conspiracy involving unknown individuals. Wecht, in 1978, was called to testify before congress to explain his problem with the "magic bullet theory," a theory brought forth by Arlen Specter. At the close of the hearings, congress concluded that the assassination was "probably" the result of a conspiracy but never took further steps in the matter. For the most part, the media went to sleep.

On the 43rd anniversary, Andrea and Mark interviewed Dr. Wecht--it was a fascinating interview. This one will be no different.
I posted about that upcoming interview back in '06, including many interesting links along with a rather disturbing photo of JFK.

Whether or not you were alive in November '63, most have some sort of an opinion as to what really happened. Some believe the "lone gunman" theory; most, however, feel that something else took place--a conspiracy. Since most of the key players are long since dead, I doubt we'll ever know the full truth. But tonight we'll again delve into the matter with Dr. Wecht, a man who's remained in the forefront of this tragic event in American history. The Dallas Morning News covers the anniversary in this morning's edition.

THE ANDREA SHEA KING SHOW--9 PM ET. Make a note of it. You will not be disappointed.

Here's the "live cam" from the sixth floor of the TSBD, the supposed sniper's nest Oswald purportedly used.

JFK'S EMERGENCY DOC DEAD AT 80

By the time 2038 arrives, everyone connected to the Kennedy assassination will be long gone. Dead. Many of us will be too.

Recently, one of the most important witnesses died. Dr. M. O. Perry is the Parkland emergency room doctor who performed the tracheotomy over the bullet wound in JFK's neck, forever changing the appearance of the evidence.

Dr. Perry is no doubt famous for performing the procedure on Kennedy, but he's also famous for what he said to reporters after they asked him if he thought it was an entrance or exit wound.

2038--only 29 short years away. Or maybe you can hang on until 2017.
