PAM MURPHY, VETERANS' ADVOCATE, DIES AT 90

Is it me or did the MSM pass on this story? If not for my patriot brother Vic in Arizona, I wouldn't have known about the passing of this great lady.

"After Audie died, they all became her boys. Every last one of them.

Any soldier or Marine who walked into the Sepulveda VA hospital and care center in the last 35 years got the VIP treatment from Pam Murphy.

The widow of Audie Murphy – the most decorated soldier in World War II – would walk the hallways with her clipboard in hand making sure her boys got to see a specialist or doctor — STAT. If they didn't, watch out."

MELANIE MORGAN: ALWAYS ON THE GO

Melanie Morgan at Searchlight, Nevada for the kickoff of the Tea Party Express III tour. Melanie had the honor of introducing governor Sarah Palin to a crowd of "dozens." (photo by Andrea Shea King)

After the TPX III tour hit the road, Melanie kept her blog readers well informed with frequent updates of the tour's progress. To show our appreciation, we featured Melanie in one of our daily reports, putting her in the front seat of the Reagan Blue Bus.

Over at Melanie's blog, she's writing about San Francisco's boycott of Arizona--BACKLASH! If it's a boycott SF wants, I guess a boycott they'll get.

What's a Chuck D from the OC? Well, according to Melanie it has something to do with the Tea Party, freeway billboards and conservative friends in Hollywood. It's true.

And Melanie's latest project: Warriors for Congress. You'll want to support this effort. Cat Moy partners with Melanie on it.

McCAIN'S LAST STAND?

This week in her syndicated column, Michelle Malkin shines her spotlight on John McCain, putting him on display for all to see.

McCain really believes there are enough ill-informed, uneducated rubes left in Arizona who'll buy his conservative sales pitch. Hell, Cal Worthington and his dog Spot couldn't move this junker off the lot. McCain's in real trouble this cycle. In fact, he's staring directly into the eyes of retirement. And those eyes belong to JD Hayworth.

John S. McCain, Will You Please Go Now?
by Michelle MalkinCreators Syndicate

"I need a Dramamine to cover GOP Sen. John McCain’s re-election bid. With his desperate lurch to the right, he’s inducing more motion sickness than a Disney Land teacup. McCain’s campaign represents the same self-serving political cynicism that American voters have grown tired of stomaching from the current White House. We need choices, not carbon copies." --continue reading.

WELCOME TO THE ADVENTURES OF... VICTORIA JACKSON

Victoria Jackson (L) with Andrea Shea King during the Tea Party Express III tour.

"The coolest conservative in Hollywood" and "The first lady of Space Coast conservatism." What a team they make! Communists everywhere had better look out!!

What's the latest news on Victoria? Her new blog, of course. I blogrolled her and I recommend you do the same. Not only is she talented and funny, she's also a very brave woman. She's not afraid to say "there's a communist in the White House," and that makes her one hell of a patriot too.

THE ADVENTURES OF A BEGINNER POLITICAL ACTIVIST

Once during a segment on the O'Reilly Factor, Victoria schooled "Ted Baxter" on what Obama is all about, but he wasn't convinced, as usual.

My apologies to Ted Baxter fans. I shouldn't compare him to O'Reilly, because Ted Baxter was actually very good at his job.

TAHOE RESORT GOING OFF CLIFF; REID NOT FAR BEHIND--updated

When the president of the United States advises big business to stay clear of resort areas such as Las Vegas for their conventions, big business takes that to mean places like Reno and Lake Tahoe as well. The result? Big business in these convention towns begin to fail, and fail big. With the overall national economy in peril, tourism is down across-the-board. And convention business, long being the life blood of these areas, becomes even more vital to the survival to these resort areas. Today another resort's future just got a little more bleak, as did the future of many working Nevadans.

The latest collapse comes to the north shore of Lake Tahoe: The Ritz-Carlton's Highlands resort, a premier resort and major employer in the north shore area, has filed default papers with the Bank of America in Placer county, which means foreclosure is close at hand. This news places further economic burdens on an already beleaguered resort area. From the Sacramento Bee:

"The new Ritz-Carlton luxury hotel at Lake Tahoe has gone into default, the latest sign of trouble for the lake economy and one of its top developers.

The default notice is the first step toward possible foreclosure. It was filed against the
Northstar-area hotel March 31, about a month after its developer, East West Resort Development of Avon, Colo., put nearly $1 billion worth of Northstar real estate development into bankruptcy reorganization."

Alongside Obama is Nevada senator Harry Reid--a potty trained lap-dog for Obama's economic policies--who has done little to nothing to bolster his state's economic future. As a result, Reid will continue skiing uphill into the senatorial elections, but probably not at the Highland's Resort in Tahoe.

Tourism and convention business is a big slice of the revenue Nevada takes in to keep the state afloat. But with Reid's lack of leadership in promoting his own state and policies favorable to it, Nevada is experiencing the brutal facts of economic reality. And soon the people of Nevada will be inviting Reid to gorge himself at an all-you-can-eat buffet, featuring a heapin' helpin' of political reality.

Note to Searchlight, Nevada-- your home town socialist is headed your way for an extended stay. Please welcome him home with open arms. It's time for a change, and the people of Nevada know it. Harry Reid knows it too. Since Harry Reid won't fight for you, consider putting Sharron Angle in the ring.

NOISYROOM for more financial news.

UPDATE: Since I've visited the north and south shores of Lake Tahoe and Reno many times, I always think of the area as Nevada. The state line runs right thru the center of the lake. The Ritz resort is on the California side of the lake, however, policies from Nevada affect the entire Tahoe resort region. As Reno goes, so goes Lake Tahoe, so to speak. And many of the workers in these resorts commute from Nevada because of prohibitive living costs associated with the Tahoe area.

I contacted the Ritz this morning and discussed the situation. A spokesperson said the financial problems with the property owner will not affect the operation of the hotel resort. The owner is now in negotiations with the bank to secure funding to bring it in line with current obligations.

When I asked if the resort would continue to operate in the event the owner in fact goes into foreclosure, the reply was that someone else would step in, buy the resort and it would continue to operate as usual. Rather optimistic, I'd say. But, the property is located in one of the most breath-taking areas on the planet. If you've never had the pleasure of visiting the Tahoe area, put it on your list of things to do before you die.

Here's a few pics I took from on top of the mountain at Tahoe.

APRIL 25, 1980--THE DAY JIMMY CARTER KNEW HE WAS A ONE-TERM PRESIDENT

Thirty years ago this week, James Earl Carter went before the nation to give a speech that would mark the beginning of the end of his presidency. The night before his speech, Carter gave the "green light" to the Iranian hostage rescue mission--Eagle Claw--that ended in disaster at Desert One.

Eight U.S. servicemen died at the site and had to be left behind. At the time, it was by far the worst humiliation the U.S. had ever suffered, and it cost Carter his reelection bid later that year. Ronald Reagan won in a landslide.

An investigation into Operation Eagle Claw cited lack of command and control and inter-service coordination as major reasons for the mission's failure. As a result,
SOCOM was established and headquartered at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa, Florida.

As a president, Carter was weak; as a former president, he's a disgrace.

The Desert One Debacle: A complete history from inception to disaster.

Our thoughts and prayers will always be with those who gave their lives in service to this nation. May God bless you and your loved ones. To each crew member involved in this mission: thank you for your service.

Mark in Texas writes:

"You might also want to give a thought to the Iranians who were going to cooperate with the Delta Force rescue effort. Their names and addresses were left behind at the Desert One site in the chaos of the evacuation. Bad things happened to those people."

Amen to that, Mark. Thanks for pointing it out. Blessings to all of them.

TWO NAVY SEALS CLEARED, ONE TO GO

From the Baltimore Sun:

BAGHDAD (AP) — "A U.S. military judge on Friday cleared a Navy SEAL of any wrongdoing in the alleged beating of an Iraqi prisoner suspected of masterminding the grisly 2004 killings of four American contractors."

"After a daylong trial and fewer than two hours considering the evidence, Navy Judge Cmdr. Tierny Carlos found Petty Officer 2nd Class Jonathan Keefe of Yorktown, Virginia, not guilty of dereliction of duty, a spokesman said."

NOTE TO BROADWAY BANK: CHECK YOUR SHOE BOXES--updated

John Ruberry at Marathon Pundit keeps his finger on the pulse of Illinois politics better than anyone I know. If it has to do with Illinois, Ruberry covers it.

Today Ruberry is waiting for the Broadway Bank to close its doors. It seems the bank finds its ledger sheet a tad out of balance, and by tad I mean $85 million. And since this bank is located in Illinois and family owned, it comes as no surprise that a member of the family just happens to be the democrat nominee for U.S. senate.

All is not lost, though. The Broadway Bank has until Monday to locate $85 Million.

It's long been argued which state is the most corrupt. Most go with New Jersey, Illinois and New York. Folks with more history behind them almost always go with Massachusetts, specifically the Boston area. The Fitzgeralds or something like that. Since I'm not an expert on the beginnings or levels of corruption, I will defer to them on that point.

Inventing state corruption--or being the biggest and best at it--is one thing, perfecting the process of screwing your state all the time is quite another. Illinois, I think, has long been tops in this category. Corruption in Illinois is not only common and widespread, to some it's a fine art. The people of Illinois almost expect it.

As a youngster in Illinois, I always heard the name of a particular politician. He was skilled in the fine art of corruption. Without a doubt, he was a master. And he had a slogan as well:

"There's only one thing worse than a defeated politician, and that's a broke one."

To fully understand corruption and the state of Illinois, you needn't go any further than the master himself: Paul Powell. He could've held seminars: How to steal from voters AND get re-elected.

Mr. Powell, however, had one unavoidable failing: he died. But not broke. (TIME MAG, 1971)

**It's now official: Broadway Bank fails. Chicago Tribune reports.

Reader Don sends this:
From the Obama Timeline (Parts I and II) at www.colony14.net:

Obama, his now-jailed money man Tony Rezko, and his Pentagon-bombing buddy William Ayers have all used the mob-tied Broadway Bank. Giannoulias was elected Illinois State Treasurer in 2006 largely because of Obama’s endorsement. (Obama supported Giannoulias when powerful Illinois Democrats refused to be seen with him. Obama called him “…one of the most outstanding young men I could ever hope to meet”—despite the candidate’s youth, lack of experience, mob connections, and Broadway Bank’s financing of Chicago crime figure Michael “Jaws” Giorango.) Obama’s first home in Chicago, a townhouse, was bought in 1993 with a loan from Broadway Bank—in a complicated deal which for several years left various names other than Obama listed as the owner. Giannoulias donated $10,000 to Obama’s campaign.

ONE NAVY SEAL CLEARED, TWO TO GO

From the Sacramento Bee:

"A U.S. military jury cleared a Navy SEAL Thursday of failing to prevent the beating of an Iraqi prisoner suspected of masterminding a 2004 attack that killed four American security contractors."

"Petty Officer
1st Class Julio Huertas, 28, of Blue Island, Illinois, was found not guilty by a six-man jury of charges of dereliction of duty and attempting to influence the testimony of another service member."

LET'S BEGIN WITH THE SMARTEST

Andrea Shea King's Surfin' Safari column has an interesting piece about the day Einstein died. A photographer from Life was at the right place at the right time throughout the day. He was the only photographer present; he was not invited; and he used his own ingenious methods to be at the right place to capture these never before released pictures.

However, the story and pictures never saw the light of day. The year was 1955. This photographer had a keen sense about people, and used that knowledge to open the doors to these historic, and private, places. I came away from this story thinking he would've made a great blogger. Possibly he's related to Stacy McCain. The story's at Surfin' Safari, scroll down to the 1955 entry on Einstein. (photos)

GERALDO CONFIRMS TEA PARTY EFFECTIVENESS--Updated

Last Saturday night, Geraldo did a segment on the Tea Party that suggested the movement was in danger of being infiltrated by people wanting to do violence. Being the good soldier, Geraldo had Mark Williams follow the obvious hit piece for comment. Williams gave a block of instruction that appears to have shaken Geraldo, prompting him to cut the segment short. But no matter how foolish Gerado looked, he will continue his attempts to discredit the Tea Party movement. It's what the left does. Geraldo, and others of similar mindset, are afraid. Very afraid. TEA PARTY EXPRESS III: "24-STAR GENERAL" EDITION

Dedicated to the crew of Tea Party Express III.

JUST MONTHS before his death, General George S. Patton, Jr., was able to make a brief and final visit back home to the United States. Patton was ordered home to lead a nationwide War Bond Tour supporting the remaining war efforts in the Pacific Theater. A final push toward victory over Japan.

Patton's first stop on U.S. soil would be Boston, Massachusetts, where he'd have the opportunity to spend some time with his family, albeit a short amount. The Patton visit to Boston, and subsequent nationwide tour, had one major, overriding goal: rallying Americans here at home.

WEDNESDAY'S TEA PARTY EXPRESS tour stop in Boston shares the same goal: rallying Americans here at home. Patton's visit was geared toward victory over Japan; TPX III's is geared toward victory over Washington, D.C.

TIME MAGAZINE reported on Patton's historic Boston visit in its June 1945 issue. The article--HEROES: 24-STAR GENERAL--opened with this paragraph:

"New England had rarely seen anything like it. But, after all, the world has rarely seen anything like General George Smith Patton Jr. Last week, when he came home from the wars, 750,000 people jammed the 20-mile parade route into downtown Boston waiting to see and cheer the conquering hero. Georgie Patton did not disappoint them." --continue reading.

Needless to say, New England will rarely see anything like this Tea Party Express, either.

No one knows if TPX III will command the numbers Patton drew on that day in 1945, but with Sarah Palin as its featured speaker, it certainly has a shot. Either way, TPX III will not disappoint Bostonians, because it's already well on its way to defeating Washington, D.C. And when it does, history will be made, again, by none other than WE THE PEOPLE.

Two tours, same goal. 65 years apart. Patton's determination, hard-driving spirit and love for America is within each of us. And together we WILL defeat the evil that surrounds us today. History repeating itself? I think so.

"I don't want to get any messages saying, 'I am holding my position.' We are not holding a GD thing... We are advancing constantly and we are not interested in holding onto anything... Our basic plan of operation is to advance and to keep on advancing regardless of whether we have to go over, under, or through the enemy."

You betcha!

TEA PARTY CONTINUES RAPID GROWTH

"Twenty-four percent (24%) of U.S. voters now say they consider themselves a part of the Tea Party movement, according to a new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey. That’s an eight-point increase from 16% a month ago."

Politicians say they don't pay attention to polls. Here's one poll I'm sure they're tracking closely. It's war, and it looks like the good guys are gaining on the bad guys. Patton once said:

"Politicians are the lowest form of life on earth; liberal democrats are the lowest form of politician."

TEA PARTY EXPRESS III: "STUCK ON STUPAK" EDITION

***FOX: Bart Stupak retiring after 18 yrs. (congrats TPX III... Bart knew you were comin' to town. FNC's Major Garrett mentioned the TPX tour stops scheduled for this w/e.) Breitbart News has the Stupak resignation video.

Day 14: TPX III enters Stupak Country with its first rally in Escanaba, MI--12 noon, and Sault Sainte Marie, MI--6:00 pm. All times EDT. With only two rally stops today, the TPX crew will be able to get some much needed rest. But not too much, since the enemy never sleeps.

Yesterday's rally in Minneapolis with Rep. Michele Bachmann was a big success, and a major boost for not only the movement, but the crew as well. Tour embed Andrea Shea King has all the details from the Bachmann press conference and rally. Also, this news hit the stands yesterday as well.

Andrea also reports on TPX TV. Did you know the whole system crashed yesterday? Here's why.

One thing I truly believe about the TPX tour and the Tea Party movement in general: it wouldn't be as successful as it is without the talent and dedication of one Lloyd Marcus. He's a gift to all freedom-loving Americans. And I think I'd be remiss if I didn't thank his lovely wife Mary for making this all possible. Someone very big, very powerful, sent Lloyd and Mary our way, and for that I am thankful.

According to Andrea, Lloyd captured the mood of this TPX tour in a recent piece he wrote. Oh, btw, in addition to his many talents, Lloyd can now add AUTHOR to the list. As in BOOK:

Terresa Monroe-Hamilton at Noisyroom posts so much information about the tour, I won't--can't--link them all, so just go to her site and scroll. Another gift to the tour, John Ruberry at Marathon Pundit. He's there for us each day. John emailed this last night--Troglopundit coverage. And John's on the Stupak retirement too.

Instapundit. What can I say?

Glenn comments: STUPAK RETIRES. "Hmm. Somebody watch what he does next for signs of a payoff. . . ."

UPDATE: Michael Graham emails: “The Tea Party is the most pro-family org. ever! Everywhere they go, Dems decide to ’spend more time with family.’” It is funny that he announced his decision in the face of a visit from the Tea Party Express.

***Breaking news via GLENN REYNOLDS AT INSTAPUNDIT***

Minnesota congresswoman Michele Bachmann
will be the featured speaker today at the 9:30 am Minneapolis TPX rally. Prior to the rally, Andrea Shea King will be attending a 9:00 am Bachmann press conference. Watch for coverage of both events at her site--The Radio Patriot--throughout the day--(first pics up now)

Later today, TPX III will have rallies at Duluth, MN--2:30 pm, and Ironwood, MI--6:30 pm. All times CDT. From the Star Tribune:

*****

MELANIE MORGAN is right where she belongs: the front seat of the TPX Blue Bus. Melanie was a featured speaker at the kickoff of this TPX tour at Searchlight, Nevada, generously assisting Harry Reid plan for his upcoming retirement.
All along the tour, Melanie has been keeping her readers up-to-date on TPX tour rallies, and we can't thank her enough for the coverage.

Co-author of the book, American Mourning, Melanie is an important part of what this tour is all about, because when she sinks her teeth into a political movement, she leaves a mark. Just ask former California Governor Gray Davis.

Andrea has amazing coverage of the yesterday's TPX rally held in Eau Claire, WI, as well as a report on the IRS' assessment of the Tea Party. Seems we're not a threat, after all.

Marathon Pundit is reporting on today's tour stops, and Noisyroom has coverage throughout the day. Pat Hickey has this gem too.

**IMPORTANT LINKS--For "LIVE" coverage of Rep. Bachmann at the Minneapolis rally, tune to TPX TV. Check their schedule for other rally coverage. Also, TPX III news, tour rally schedules.

TONIGHT: The Andrea Shea King Show will be broadcasting "live" from somewhere in Michigan. Join us at 9 pm et. Call the show at: 646-478-4604.

CNN'S SHANNON TRAVIS REPORTS "LIVE" FROM THE TEA PARTY EXPRESS

Shannon Travis, a CNN political producer tagged along with the Tea Party Express III tour to see what all the fuss was about. After reading the article a few times, I'm not overly impressed with the effort, especially the part where he retells the story from a Washington DC rally where black congressmen say they were called the "N" word or spat upon.

The incident NEVER happened, yet this CNN reporter repeats it as if it did, and does so in the opening paragraphs. Love to see him do a follow-up admitting that it never took place, but I doubt CNN has neither the time nor inclination to do so.

My grade for this coverage: D. (he did spell CNN correctly)

You decide.

TEA PARTY EXPRESS III: "WISCONSIN CHEESE" EDITION

DAY 11: TPX III tour embed Andrea Shea King reports on Tuesday's rallies--three states, one report. Yesterday's rallies--Iowa, Illinois, Wisconsin--had some very special moments for Andrea--witnessing the Patriot Guard Riders escorting the caravan of tour buses, and meeting Marathon Pundit at the Rockford rally. She documents the rallies with an extensive collection of photos. "Good morning, Cheeseheads!"

***From the front of the Blue Bus, it's Marathon Pundit. John Ruberry traveled to the Rockford Rally, met Andrea, the TPX crew and was treated to a VIP tour. See John's photos of the Rockford rally--he'll have a full Rockford report later in the day. (Report up now) John is one of our most dedicated TPX supporters--he makes a difference each and every day.

DAY 12: The Tea Party Express will make its swing through Wisconsin, stopping for rallies in Milwaukee--9:30 am; Green Bay--2:00 pm; Eau Claire--7:30 pm. All times CDT.

TPX COVERAGE: Tea Party Express, Tea Party Express TV and TPX tour schedules are your best links for tour news and information. And you can attend rallies via your computer by hitting the TV link. Wm and Selena Owens do a great job of producing all TPX TV coverage.

AND SPEAKING of coverage, dedication and all-around TPX spirit, Terresa Monroe-Hamilton at Noisyroom fills her blog throughout the day with updates. Trying to keep up with her is a full-time job. Tour officials are most thankful for the work she does in support of TPX III. And in between TPX updates, she finds time to include other important items as well. How about this video of LTC Allen West, who's running for Florida's 22nd congressional district. Great leader.

**TONIGHT--The Andrea Shea King Show broadcasts "live" from somewhere in the Wisconsin area. Tune in at 9 pm et. Call us at 646-478-4604.

The TPX III nationwide tour is all about the next generation, and Andrea captures two members of that generation in this photo--Davenport, Iowa.
