ECON 101: PAY ATTENTION TO THE MARKETS

As we near Nov 2nd, I look for signs of a "crisis." There's one brewing in the currency markets--take a look at the dollar. Is there no end to the rising price of Gold and Silver? Is oil headed back to a $100?

For the latest Financial News of the day, travel to NoisyRoom. As always, Terresa Monroe-Hamilton will prepare a wide variety of financial news from across the globe. And there's a TIP JAR located at the right margin, if you're so inclined. Don't make me "incline" you.

"FINANCIAL TELL" AT THE SACRAMENTO BEE

Saturday morning I noticed something in the Sacramento Bee that brought a smile to my face, and the Bee hardly ever brings a smile to my face. The great and only newspaper of the capitol city of California is now placing ads on its front page. Saturday, below the fold, they were selling furniture.

There's only one reason why a major newspaper would do this: ad revenue is drying up. People are getting their news from other sources--
The New Media comes to mind.

The Bee has long been a tool of the "progressive left" here in California and it was just a matter of time before they were forced into this situation. The financial realities of being a progressive rag are now coming home to roost. It's about time.

The Bee, however, is still good for wrapping fish and lining your birdcage. But for reliable news sources, try Michelle Malkin or Terresa Monroe-Hamilton's NoisyRoom.

ECONOMIC DEPRESSION: DEFINING WHAT IT IS

I was just wondering when you declare a depression, or does the govt just continue on with the endless recession declaration. "Summer of Recovery" and all that. What constitutes a depression? Here's a look--you decide if we're in one. Obama says we're not, that we're well into the recovery phase but that it will take time, you know. Obama lies most of the time at a 180 degree angle. So, I wonder...

"In economics, a depression is a sustained, long-term downturn in economic activity in one or more economies. It is a more severe downturn than a recession, which is seen by economists as part of a normal business cycle.

"Considered a rare and extreme form of recession, a depression is characterized by its length, and by abnormally large increases in
unemployment, falls in the availability of credit— quite often due to some kind of banking/financial crisis, shrinking output and investment, numerous bankruptcies— including sovereign debt defaults, significantly reduced amounts of trade and commerce— especially international, as well as highly volatile relative currency value fluctuations— most often due to devaluations. Price deflation, financial crises and bank failures are also common elements of a depression."

"There is no widely agreed definition for a depression, though some have been proposed. In the United States the National Bureau of Economic Research determines contractions and expansions in the business cycle, but does not declare depressions.[1]

"Generally, periods labeled depressions are marked by a substantial and sustained shortfall of the ability to purchase goods relative to the amount that could be produced using current resources and technology (potential output).[2] Another proposed definition of depression includes two general rules: 1) a decline in real GDP exceeding 10%, or 2) a recession lasting 2 or more years."

More on depressions here. And HIT THE TIP JAR at Noisyroom.

FINANCIAL NEWS, PAM GELLER LABELS OBAMA FOR WHAT HE IS--ON TV!

Mobile blogging from N. California. And after reading the FINANCIAL NEWS UPDATE at Noisyroom, you might be tempted to relax in the warm, swirling waters of a spa. Also, last night I watched Pam Geller on Hannity's Great American Panel. Geller was stellar! Around 4:16 in the video, Geller called Obama an anti-Semite. Some thought it a harsh thing to say on tv but Geller isn't one to mince words. Great job, Pam Geller of Atlas Shrugs!

McCAIN--ROMNEY PLAYDATE; EU COMING APART AT FINANCIAL SEAMS

JOHN McCAIN has called in a BIG RINO hired gun to help push JD Hayworth and his conservative forces back. Mitt Romney will be stumping for McCain today in Mesa. (Greta and Sean were unavailable.) No word on whether or not Dr. Juan Hernandez will be attending this speech, but I'm sure he's somewhere close by. After all, Hernandez was McCain's liaison to the Hispanic community during the "so called" '08 Republican presidential campaign.

There isn't a conservative policy between these two faux republicans. McCain, however, is hoping there's enough dummies left in Arizona who don't realize that fact.
VOTE for JD Hayworth in the August primary. *(Here's how the McCain-Romney campaign stop went.)

MORE GOOD NEWS coming out of Europe: Hungary is the next domino to fall in the great progressive experiment called the EU. When I say good news, I mean it. This is progressivism on parade, and it's falling apart. Of course, we'll suffer for it at some point but that's the way it has to be. This economic robbery can no longer be papered-over by the media. The sooner this is exposed, the better.

Prior to the market open this morning, the DOW, along with all major indicators, were diving for the bottom of the tank. (9am pst Dow down -222.)Fiscal woes in Europe (Hungary) have the markets in an uproar, with investors running for cover. Meanwhile, the job numbers for this week were posted--bad, but that isn't stopping Obama and Biden from giving a speech at a factory this morning, touting how the stimulus and jobs bills are kicking in with great success; hiring is taking place across the board in industry. OUR economic problems are finally over--we're on the road to recovery!! Yes!! One day these two criminals will share a jail cell.

California is our EU. I live here; I'm living it, personally. This state is on life support, approaching economic calamity and death. I say death because people will be dying as a result of cutbacks in services to the least powerful and influential. It's nearing "every man for himself" in some sectors. On the other hand, UNIONS--the real owners of this once great state--are doing just fine and all future prospects are looking up--Blue Sky, Baby!!

Again, the same goes for California as the EU: the sooner this progressive experiment is exposed, the better. Here in California, the same goes for the media as well: they can't hide the facts any longer. The game is over on progressive policies; it will be painful for a lot of folks but it's something we must go through in order to take back our state and nation.

NOISYROOM WILL HAVE more economic news listed in the financial links post.

MELANIE MORGAN has a variety of links--Chuck D. from the OC vs. Babs Boxer and much more.

LET'S BEGIN WITH THE SMARTEST

Andrea Shea King's Surfin' Safari column has an interesting piece about the day Einstein died. A photographer from Life was at the right place at the right time throughout the day. He was the only photographer present; he was not invited; and he used his own ingenious methods to be at the right place to capture these never before released pictures.

However, the story and pictures never saw the light of day. The year was 1955. This photographer had a keen sense about people, and used that knowledge to open the doors to these historic, and private, places. I came away from this story thinking he would've made a great blogger. Possibly he's related to Stacy McCain. The story's at Surfin' Safari, scroll down to the 1955 entry on Einstein. (photos)

ALIPAC is calling for senator Lindsey Graham to come out of the closet? Yes, that closet. The Radio Patriot not only has the story but will be interviewing Bill Gheen of ALIPAC this evening on THE ANDREA SHEA KING SHOW. 9 PM ET.

ATLAS SHRUGS takes Bill O'Reilly to task for the way he reported on the South Park controversy and the Mohammed cartoon... SAL RUSSO, TPX III's Chief Strategist, responds to criticism over their endorsement of a democrat. Atlas takes Russo to task as well.

NOISYROOM posts a story about how longtime friends can part ways over the current political atmosphere brewing in this country... BOOKWORM ROOM posts a story about her and a liberal friend discussing health care. You know how this one goes, but read it anyway. More and more of this is taking place.

DAN MITCHELL says gloominess and despair are not uncommon traits among those supporting limited government. He advises to not give up on the American people... just yet, anyway.

THE RADIO PATRIOT has a TPX III group photo with Governor Sarah Palin. But what's missing? ***This just posted: Radio Patriot has the video of TPX III's Mark Williams going one-on-two during the Joy Behar Show. TEA PARTY EXPRESS III: "24-STAR GENERAL" EDITION

Dedicated to the crew of Tea Party Express III.

JUST MONTHS before his death, General George S. Patton, Jr., was able to make a brief and final visit back home to the United States. Patton was ordered home to lead a nationwide War Bond Tour supporting the remaining war efforts in the Pacific Theater. A final push toward victory over Japan.

Patton's first stop on U.S. soil would be Boston, Massachusetts, where he'd have the opportunity to spend some time with his family, albeit a short amount. The Patton visit to Boston, and subsequent nationwide tour, had one major, overriding goal: rallying Americans here at home.

WEDNESDAY'S TEA PARTY EXPRESS tour stop in Boston shares the same goal: rallying Americans here at home. Patton's visit was geared toward victory over Japan; TPX III's is geared toward victory over Washington, D.C.

TIME MAGAZINE reported on Patton's historic Boston visit in its June 1945 issue. The article--HEROES: 24-STAR GENERAL--opened with this paragraph:

"New England had rarely seen anything like it. But, after all, the world has rarely seen anything like General George Smith Patton Jr. Last week, when he came home from the wars, 750,000 people jammed the 20-mile parade route into downtown Boston waiting to see and cheer the conquering hero. Georgie Patton did not disappoint them." --continue reading.

Needless to say, New England will rarely see anything like this Tea Party Express, either.

No one knows if TPX III will command the numbers Patton drew on that day in 1945, but with Sarah Palin as its featured speaker, it certainly has a shot. Either way, TPX III will not disappoint Bostonians, because it's already well on its way to defeating Washington, D.C. And when it does, history will be made, again, by none other than WE THE PEOPLE.

Two tours, same goal. 65 years apart. Patton's determination, hard-driving spirit and love for America is within each of us. And together we WILL defeat the evil that surrounds us today. History repeating itself? I think so.

"I don't want to get any messages saying, 'I am holding my position.' We are not holding a GD thing... We are advancing constantly and we are not interested in holding onto anything... Our basic plan of operation is to advance and to keep on advancing regardless of whether we have to go over, under, or through the enemy."

You betcha!

TEA PARTY EXPRESS III: "STUCK ON STUPAK" EDITION

***FOX: Bart Stupak retiring after 18 yrs. (congrats TPX III... Bart knew you were comin' to town. FNC's Major Garrett mentioned the TPX tour stops scheduled for this w/e.) Breitbart News has the Stupak resignation video.

Day 14: TPX III enters Stupak Country with its first rally in Escanaba, MI--12 noon, and Sault Sainte Marie, MI--6:00 pm. All times EDT. With only two rally stops today, the TPX crew will be able to get some much needed rest. But not too much, since the enemy never sleeps.

Yesterday's rally in Minneapolis with Rep. Michele Bachmann was a big success, and a major boost for not only the movement, but the crew as well. Tour embed Andrea Shea King has all the details from the Bachmann press conference and rally. Also, this news hit the stands yesterday as well.

Andrea also reports on TPX TV. Did you know the whole system crashed yesterday? Here's why.

********

One thing I truly believe about the TPX tour and the Tea Party movement in general: it wouldn't be as successful as it is without the talent and dedication of one Lloyd Marcus. He's a gift to all freedom-loving Americans. And I think I'd be remiss if I didn't thank his lovely wife Mary for making this all possible. Someone very big, very powerful, sent Lloyd and Mary our way, and for that I am thankful.

According to Andrea, Lloyd captured the mood of this TPX tour in a recent piece he wrote. Oh, btw, in addition to his many talents, Lloyd can now add AUTHOR to the list. As in BOOK:

Terresa Monroe-Hamilton at Noisyroom posts so much information about the tour, I won't--can't--link them all, so just go to her site and scroll. Another gift to the tour, John Ruberry at Marathon Pundit. He's there for us each day. John emailed this last night--Troglopundit coverage. And John's on the Stupak retirement too.

******
Instapundit. What can I say?

Glenn comments: STUPAK RETIRES. "Hmm. Somebody watch what he does next for signs of a payoff. . . ."

UPDATE: Michael Graham emails: “The Tea Party is the most pro-family org. ever! Everywhere they go, Dems decide to ’spend more time with family.’” It is funny that he announced his decision in the face of a visit from the Tea Party Express.

******

IMPORTANT LINKAGE: TPX III, TPX TV, Tour schedule.

TPX III CONTRIBUTIONS

**ASK SHOW cancelled. Returning on Sunday--9 pm et.** Tonight--The Andrea Shea King Show will be broadcasting "live" from Stupak Country--9 pm et. Bart can call in at 646-478-4604. I'll keep a line open for ya!

And now I'll leave you with Lloyd Marcus and Rep. Michele Bachmann:
