MARCH 30, 1981--RONALD REAGAN SHOT; "WE'RE ALL REPUBLICANS TODAY"

Thirty years ago, the history of the world was nearly diverted to parts unknown.

I remember the day well.
At the time, we were just recovering from our four year hangover brought on by a near-fatal dose of "malaise," but with Ronald Reagan in the White House, we were on the road to a speedy recovery and couldn't be happier.

After delivering a speech at a Washington Hotel, Reagan was exiting the building when John Hinckley fired a volley of shots in Reagan's direction, hitting him once and seriously wounding him. Reagan was rushed to a nearby hospital, Hinckley was taken into custody.

But Reagan, 70 at the time and only in office for 69 days, was tough as nails. The president recovered, and went on to change the lives of not only all Americans but the lives of millions worldwide.

"The president had appeared from the hotel smiling and walked towards his limousine turning momentarily to acknowledge calls from the waiting press."

"A burst of gunfire was then heard before the president was bundled into a bullet proof limousine and whisked away."

At the hospital--
3:24 p.m:

"Reagan was wheeled into the operating room. He had lost about 2,100 cc of blood, but his bleeding had slowed and he had received 4 1/2 replacement units. As he was moved from the stretcher to the operating table, he looked around and said, 'Please tell me you're all Republicans.' Giordano, a liberal Democrat, said, "We're all Republicans today."

The attempt on Reagan's life brought back memories:

"The assassination attempt has sent shock waves around the country where memories of the murder of president John F Kennedy remain vivid."

From Sam Donaldson's perspective:

Rare footage:

When you think of America's greatness, you will always think of Ronald Reagan.

EARLY GALLUP POLLING, THE ANDREA SHEA KING SHOW--9 PM ET

Gallup's in the business of polling, but I think they might be a tad early with this GOP presidential poll.

I can inform Gallup without the use of any polling data whatsoever, that the RNC will be in one hell of a mess if they even think of putting the likes of Mitt or Huck atop the presidential ticket. The #2 spot? Forget about it. As the political season moves forward, it will become quite clear who's favored for the GOP's #1 spot. Once the Tea Party Movement commences with its "kinetic communication program," a poll from Gallup won't be of much use.

TONIGHT: The Andrea Shea King Show--9 PM ET. Oh, btw, coming soon--Tea Party Express 5! It's never too early to contribute.

MOVIE LEGEND, ELIZABETH TAYLOR, DIES AT 79

Liz Taylor was one of the biggest movie stars in the history of Hollywood. Taylor was a star from the days when being a "star" meant something. She was Hollywood Royalty. Her passing is probably the end of an era in the movie-making business, never to be repeated again.

RIP

WHO IS JOHN GALT? ATLAS SHRUGGED, PART 1, WILL ANSWER THAT QUESTION

The movie version of Ayn Rand's best-selling book--Atlas Shrugged--will hit the big screen on April 15th. Can you think of a better day to debut this movie? I didn't think so.

The book was written decades ago and still sells hundreds of thousands of copies. Which begs the question: Why did Hollywood wait so long to produce this movie? It would seem to be a no-brainer. Hannity and Stossel discuss that very question over at
NoisyRoom.

Rand's book is so long that the movie will be in three parts, and I'm betting it will be a box office smash. Not only will it be good for the studio, painfully good, but it will be good for the Tea Party movement, conservatives, business, and the many Americans who'll wake up and finally realize they now "get it."

Everyone's a winner here--even Pam Geller's site will benefit from a surge in uniques--Atlas Shrugs. Of course the extensive line of everything John Galt will do a brisk business as well. After all, when Americans finally see this story play out on the big screen, they will not only understand John Galt, they'll be John Galt. Might even "go" John Galt.

***Theaters where Atlas Shrugged will be opening. If your city is not on the list, DEMAND IT.

WHERE'S CONGRESS?

The Radio Patriot—Andrea Shea King—posted about the price of oil, gas and the increased costs headed our way. She wonders out loud: Where’s congress!!! Why aren’t they doing something about Obama’s policies on oil, gas, and drilling?

Then she asks this:

“Where is the balance of power among the three branches of government?”

That’s an easy one. There was a time in America when we had three branches of government, each providing checks and balances on the others. Actually, there used to be four branches, the free press being the fourth and unofficial branch.

So the answer to Andrea's question is this: There is no balance of power because we no longer have checks and balances in Washington DC. None.

The Legislative Branch was bought and paid for years ago. Your interests are no longer their interests. I think that’s rather obvious. Of course there are a few members of congress who genuinely try to do their jobs. But overall, congress couldn’t give a rat’s ass about you, your issues, concerns, complaints or suggestions. I have at least 14 trillion reasons why I believe this to be true.

The Executive Branch simply does what it wants because there’s no legislative branch providing a check to its policies. Besides, who needs congress when you’ve got a stack of blank executive orders just waiting to be signed? And if the president gets tired of signing EOs, he can dish the whole process over to Czars-R-Us.

The Judicial Branch? Good question. But I’m confident that one day we’ll locate our system of justice. You just watch.

The Free Press resigned its position as “watch dogs” for the American people somewhere around Viet Nam. The free press is the ultimate tool when it comes to checks and balances in government—when they get you involved, things begin to happen. From my view, the free press now works for the other three branches, so that means one thing, and one thing only: we are screwed.

Screwed, that is, if we don’t take action immediately. And by “action” I mean something like this: If your member of congress doesn’t know your name within the next few weeks, then there’s a good chance we’re going to fail as a nation. And I’m thinking phone calls, emails and letters aren’t going to get the job done. I think it’s time to stop by the district office, introduce yourself, and voice your concerns in no uncertain terms. If your member isn’t in the office, his/her staff will be. Chat 'em up. They'll just love meeting you.

Phone calls, emails and letters alone will not be effective. It’s time for a face-to-face conversation. Then hit ‘em with all the phone calls, emails and letters you can churn out.

Go to the district office, and go there often.

WE'RE OFF TO SEE THE WIZARD

Money is something we all have in common. Some people have trouble making it, others have trouble hanging onto it. It causes problems for individuals, marriages, businesses and nations. Money can be complicated, it can be simple. It all depends on your knowledge of it--it's history.

Since everyone has an opinion, some may not agree with this presentation. Either way, it makes no difference, because you're payin' the tab for the current fiscal crisis, anyway. Watch and learn. Or, just watch.

JANE RUSSELL DEAD AT 89

As they say, they don't make 'em like this anymore. Russell had quite an interesting life and Hollywood career. When you finish reading her obit, you'll note how much Hollywood has changed, or devolved--Charlie Sheen. The New York Times:

"She also turned to conservative politics in her later years.

“These days I’m a teetotal, mean-spirited, right-wing, narrow-minded, conservative Christian bigot, but not a racist,” she told an Australian newspaper, The Daily Mail, in 2003. Bigotry, she added, “just means you don’t have an open mind.”

SEA OF RED INK, CHINESE DEBT LARGER THAN ESTIMATED

The Radio Patriot posted an article that dives into the sea of red ink our federal, state and local governments are drowning in. And if they're drowning, so are we.

The report lays out the financial situation we're in, devoid of politics and emotion. The picture is not pretty--the way out is even less attractive.

After looking over the Radio Patriot report above, I ran into this item about our debt to China. It seems the Chinese hold more paper on us than was estimated.
What have we done?
