WHERE WERE YOU ?

If you want to start a good conversation that almost always ends up in an argument, start talking about the Kennedy assassination. Everyone has an opinion. It's one of the most fascinating subjects in our history. All this week your tv schedule will be filled with assassination programming. However, it still won't be solved.

I'm not one of those conspiracy nuts. In fact, I don't think there was a second gunman in Dealey Plaza on November 22nd; I'm pretty sure there was a third and fourth one, though. But that's just my opinion.

Many of the players involved with the investigation are long since dead. Some say that's by design. But, two major players are still with us, still arguing, and not giving an inch with regards to their theory. Of the two, one is credible...the other is Arlen Specter.

This article explains how both men came to be involved in the investigation, and outlines their theories. One of them actually comes out and says who he thinks killed Kennedy. It's an interesting and historical read.

Where were you? That would be the most common question, and those of us who were old enough back then remember exactly where we were and what we did when we heard the news.

Around 12:45 cst, our teacher brought a tv into the class. She didn't say much, except that this was very important. She tuned the tv to Walter Cronkite. Not long after it began, Cronkite announced that the president was dead. School was cancelled for the rest of the day and I walked the one block to my house. I found my mom listening to the coverage on the radio and tv.

I didn't have a clue as to the importance of this event. It was obvious the adults did because their mood was somber, neighbors came by the house and talked about it. It reminded me of the mood during the missile crisis just one year prior.

My dad made me watch the entire funeral proceedings. For a little boy this was very boring and I made it known I wasn't happy about it. But he made me sit in front of the tv for the whole thing, telling me that this was history and I was going to watch it. He was right, it was history; I'm glad he made me sit there to witness it.

I'll post more about this in the next couple of days, but in the meantime, I'd love to hear about where you were on November 22nd, 1963 when you heard the news. If you weren't of this world yet, I'm sure you have an opinion about it. At least I hope you do.

Leftovers from the interview with Dr. Cyril Wecht on the JFK assassination: It's an interesting list. Here's the follow-up on the first name on that list. This family was huge in Illinois media for decades; Marathon Pundit will remember them, I'm sure.

JFK's religion was front and center during the 1960 elections because a Catholic had never been President. Brainster points out that Romney is facing a similar problem. Interesting numbers.

Kramer has pretty much destroyed what was left of his career, and worse yet, he's damaged the Seinfeld series. You can never watch Seinfeld again without thinking of Michael Richards and his racist rantings. Too bad.

47 YEARS AGO, JFK WAS ASSASSINATED IN DALLAS, TEXAS; DR. CYRIL WECHT JOINS ANDREA TO DISCUSS THE EVENT

It was 47 years ago today that President John F. Kennedy was gunned down while riding in his motorcade through Dallas' Dealey Plaza. JFK's limousine was open and sparsely protected. Those of us who were alive at the time remember exactly where we were when the news broadcast came over the airwaves. For me, it was CBS' Walter Cronkite who reported to my classroom that the president had in fact died at 1 PM CST at Dallas' Parkland Hospital. School was dismissed until after the funeral.

*TONIGHT on THE ANDREA SHEA KING SHOW, our guest will be Dr. Cyril Wecht, the well known forensic pathologist who's never wavered in his beliefs that this event was not the result of a lone gunman, but that of a conspiracy involving unknown individuals. Wecht, in 1978, was called to testify before congress to explain his problem with the "magic bullet theory," a theory brought forth by Arlen Specter. At the close of the hearings, congress concluded that the assassination was "probably" the result of a conspiracy but never took further steps in the matter. For the most part, the media went to sleep.

On the 43rd anniversary, Andrea and Mark interviewed Dr. Wecht--it was a fascinating interview. This one will be no different. I posted about that upcoming interview back in '06, including many interesting links along with a rather disturbing photo of JFK.

Whether or not you were alive in November '63, most have some sort of an opinion as to what really happened. Some believe the "lone gunman" theory; most, however, feel that something else took place--a conspiracy. Since most of the key players are long since dead, I doubt we'll ever know the full truth. But tonight we'll again delve into the matter with Dr. Wecht, a man who's remained in the forefront of this tragic event in American history. The Dallas Morning News covers the anniversary in this morning's edition.

Ted Kennedy, in my opinion, is a dangerous man. In my day to day discussions with people, I have noticed that many don't really know much about his past, or any of the details of the incident at Chappaquiddick. To know and understand Chappaquiddick is to know Ted Kennedy.

Since Ted likes to take shots at our Nation, I feel it's my duty, my responsibility, to take a shot at him whenever I can. Don't get me wrong, Ted has every right to voice his objections concerning any mistakes we as a nation have made and the policies we put forth. However, when we have troops in harm's way, our young men and women, his ventings should be from behind closed doors and outside the media's attention. Attempting to do damage to any administration at the cost of troop morale and lives is unacceptable and unamerican.

After being released from the Army in the late '70s, I attended college and had a magnificent poli-sci professor, Dr. David Yamada. He exposed me to "critical thinking" and once had a retired CIA agent come to class to discuss JFK's assassination. It was an eye opening experience and one that would encourage me to do research on my own to understand the Kennedy family and what happened to them in the '60s. What the CIA agent said in class caused many of the older students to become upset. At the time I didn't understand why this was the case, but later it made sense. The agent was required to have a tape recorder running while he talked so there would be a record of everything he extended to us. I was amazed at what he said and it made me want to know more.

In this class we learned many things about the Kennedys, Chappaquiddick was part of the discussion, so I took the time to find my notes from class and found a website with the same information I received. To know and understand Ted Kennedy, you must read the information at this site. Afterwards, you will wonder, as I do, why his state feels that he's the best they can come up with to serve them in the Senate.

JFK'S EMERGENCY DOC DEAD AT 80

By the time 2038 arrives, everyone connected to the Kennedy assassination will be long gone. Dead. Many of us will be too.

Recently, one of the most important witnesses died. Dr. M. O. Perry is the Parkland emergency room doctor who performed the tracheotomy over the bullet wound in JFK's neck, forever changing the appearance of the evidence.

Dr. Perry is no doubt famous for performing the procedure on Kennedy, but he's also famous for what he said to reporters after they asked him if he thought it was an entrance or exit wound.

2038--only 29 short years away. Or maybe you can hang on until 2017.

I was in 1st grade, Mrs. Bennett's class, at Leal School in Urbana, Illinois. Our teacher rolled a tv into class and turned it on so we could watch the coverage of the assassination. She knew this was one of the biggest events in our nation's history and she wanted us to witness it. I'm glad she did it. My dad made me watch the whole funeral, even though I didn't understand what was going on or its significance. Today, I'm glad he made me watch, but back then all I wanted to do was go outside and play. Watching President Reagan's funeral brought back memories of watching Kennedy's.

Since those early years, I've read many books on the subject and have developed a general fascination with it. The last book I read was, Farewell America, by James Hepburn. (pen name) After all the reading I've yet to figure out who shot JFK, but I do know who didn't. And, do you ever wonder why the assassination records were sealed until something like 2038? Odd, I think, unless you're trying to hide something or you're waiting for a whole generation to die off, or both.

Many things that our nation experiences today, politically and culturally, can be traced back to that day in Dealey Plaza; the day our history took an abrupt turn.
