MARCH 30, 1981--RONALD REAGAN SHOT; "WE'RE ALL REPUBLICANS TODAY"

Thirty years ago, the history of the world was nearly diverted to parts unknown.

I remember the day well. At the time, we were just recovering from our four year hangover brought on by a near-fatal dose of "malaise," but with Ronald Reagan in the White House, we were on the road to a speedy recovery and couldn't be happier.

After delivering a speech at a Washington Hotel, Reagan was exiting the building when John Hinckley fired a volley of shots in Reagan's direction, hitting him once and seriously wounding him. Reagan was rushed to a nearby hospital, Hinckley was taken into custody.

But Reagan, 70 at the time and only in office for 69 days, was tough as nails. The president recovered, and went on to change the lives of not only all Americans but the lives of millions worldwide.

"The president had appeared from the hotel smiling and walked towards his limousine turning momentarily to acknowledge calls from the waiting press."

"A burst of gunfire was then heard before the president was bundled into a bullet proof limousine and whisked away."

At the hospital--3:24 p.m:

"Reagan was wheeled into the operating room. He had lost about 2,100 cc of blood, but his bleeding had slowed and he had received 4 1/2 replacement units. As he was moved from the stretcher to the operating table, he looked around and said, 'Please tell me you're all Republicans.' Giordano, a liberal Democrat, said, "We're all Republicans today."

The attempt on Reagan's life brought back memories:

TONIGHT--MELANIE MORGAN, ANDREA SHEA KING, LLOYD MARCUS--"SARAH SMILE"

I'm on election info overload this morning and was forced to turn off the radio and tv in favor of some good music. Now I can post two items of interest from Melanie Morgan and Andrea Shea King. First Melanie:

As Commander-in-Chief (Chairwoman) of MOVE AMERICA FORWARD, Morgan finds herself battling many leftist organizations from one end of our Nation to the other. It's what she does. Today, Morgan points out one of those groups bent on attacking the republican ticket, specifically Gov. Palin. A sample:

A left-wing organization that I have tangled with publicly in the past has identified its newest target: Track Palin.

That’s right, a 19-year old private who happens to be the son of Republican Governor Sarah Palin is now being used as a pawn in their quest to gain power and undermine the war in Iraq.

This effort is being led by Jon Soltz, who runs a 501c3, called VoteVets.org. Soltz is demanding that the Department of Defense investigate a so-called leak of Track Palin’s deployment details to Iraq. Th hidden agenda is to investigate Sarah Palin and her family for 'leaking' deployment details.

VoteVets.org has circulated a petition demanding to know who gave these details to the media.

“When someone chooses to bolster that story by leaking classified details to the media, it allows the enemy to gain valuable information that allows them to strike at a symbolic target of importance – and all the troops around that target. It’s dangerous, it’s illegal, and it needs to be investigated” says Soltz.“Whoever is divulging this information to the media should be prosecuted and punished, if found guilty. Whether you’re a Democrat, Republican, Independent, or of another party, we should all agree that we cannot accept anyone feeding classified details to the press. Join us in demanding the Pentagon investigate.”

While this sounds patriotic, and indeed commendable, I can assure you that VoteVets.org and Jon Soltz are only out to score political points against the Palin family and Republicans in general...continue reading at Melanie's site. (lots of good links too)

I've seen enough. The Alito hearings are an embarrassment to the U.S. Senate. Both republicans and democrats should lower their heads in shame. And the voters who re-elect these people year after year should have their heads examined. What are they thinking?

The U.S.A., the greatest example of democracy the world has ever seen, or ever will, and this is the best we can come up with in the Senate? If so, we're in big trouble.

It's no wonder that we don't elect Senators to the presidency anymore. Today, we're happy to promote our governors and congressmen to the White House--not senators.

We ended the practice in 1972 with Nixon; he was the last of a long line of senators to move in at 1600.

What are your thoughts on this 34 year trend? Was it Watergate that doomed all Senators?

McCAIN--ROMNEY PLAYDATE; EU COMING APART AT FINANCIAL SEAMS

JOHN McCAIN has called in a BIG RINO hired gun to help push JD Hayworth and his conservative forces back. Mitt Romney will be stumping for McCain today in Mesa. (Greta and Sean were unavailable.) No word on whether or not Dr. Juan Hernandez will be attending this speech, but I'm sure he's somewhere close by. After all, Hernandez was McCain's liaison to the Hispanic community during the "so called" '08 Republican presidential campaign.

There isn't a conservative policy between these two faux republicans. McCain, however, is hoping there's enough dummies left in Arizona who don't realize that fact. VOTE for JD Hayworth in the August primary. *(Here's how the McCain-Romney campaign stop went.)

MORE GOOD NEWS coming out of Europe: Hungary is the next domino to fall in the great progressive experiment called the EU. When I say good news, I mean it. This is progressivism on parade, and it's falling apart. Of course, we'll suffer for it at some point but that's the way it has to be. This economic robbery can no longer be papered-over by the media. The sooner this is exposed, the better.

Prior to the market open this morning, the DOW, along with all major indicators, were diving for the bottom of the tank. (9am pst Dow down -222.)Fiscal woes in Europe (Hungary) have the markets in an uproar, with investors running for cover. Meanwhile, the job numbers for this week were posted--bad, but that isn't stopping Obama and Biden from giving a speech at a factory this morning, touting how the stimulus and jobs bills are kicking in with great success; hiring is taking place across the board in industry. OUR economic problems are finally over--we're on the road to recovery!! Yes!! One day these two criminals will share a jail cell.

California is our EU. I live here; I'm living it, personally. This state is on life support, approaching economic calamity and death. I say death because people will be dying as a result of cutbacks in services to the least powerful and influential. It's nearing "every man for himself" in some sectors. On the other hand, UNIONS--the real owners of this once great state--are doing just fine and all future prospects are looking up--Blue Sky, Baby!!

Again, the same goes for California as the EU: the sooner this progressive experiment is exposed, the better. Here in California, the same goes for the media as well: they can't hide the facts any longer. The game is over on progressive policies; it will be painful for a lot of folks but it's something we must go through in order to take back our state and nation.

RUSH LIMBAUGH: "THE LAST MAN STANDING"

According to an article posted at Politico, Rush Limbaugh is on a White House enemies list. Yes, the same kind of list Richard Nixon used in his administration. Apparently, the White House is targeting Limbaugh in order to use him as a tool to divide republicans, thus further weakening the party. Plans have been in the making to sideline Rush as an influence within republican circles since late last year, and when Rush said he hoped Obama's policies fail, the plan went into action. Recent comments by Michael Steele also helped the dems drive their point home that Rush Limbaugh is now the head of the republican party.

After learning of the White House's plans to derail him, Rush opened his show today with a personal challenge to Obama. Rush invited Obama down to the EIB studios for a face-to-face debate during the radio show. The topics of debate listed by Rush were numerous, covering everything Obama is pushing through congress as well as future plans. As the newly installed Head of the RNC, a promotion given by the dems, Rush figures Obama wouldn't mind debating the issues of the day. And to show that he's a class act, Rush went on to offer this:

"In fact, Mr. President, you know what, I know these are tough economic times, and you're trying to convince people that you're "saving" the taxpayers money, that you're cutting spending, that you're cutting the deficit. In that vein, I, Mr. President, will send my jet, EIB One, to pick you up and bring you here and take you back to wherever you want to go. You'd love it. It's not as big and luxurious as your jet, but it's got enough seats for your Secret Service detail. But it is something to behold. I'm very proud of it, Mr. President. I worked for it. I paid for it. Taxpayers pay you for your travel. Nobody pays me for mine. I pay for it. I pay for the airplane. I pay for the travel. I pay for practically everything I do. We can talk about that, too. I could tell you what that's like.

And once you land, by the way, I have a fleet of SUVs because I have guests here all the time. I have four or five SUVs. I can send a caravan to pick you up. I'll even put you up at The Breakers. It's a five-star resort. I'll do it all on my dime. We don't want the taxpayers footing any of the bill for this -- and my jet burns a lot less fuel than your two and your C-130 to bring your limousine and SUV caravan here. In fact, you know what, Mr. President? I'll tell you what I will do, if you will do this. I will promise to order some Wagyu Kobe beef at $100 a pound, just like you serve at your cocktail parties and your Super Bowl parties. I'll get it from Allen Brothers in Chicago, since you like that. I know you like $100-per-pound beef. You serve it at the White House."--Read the entire opening segment of Rush's show.
