NEWS STORIES YOU WON'T BE SEEING IN THE MSM

Christi King--COMMON SENSE AMERICA--has posted some updates about the immigration situation in Arizona and from her home state of Missouri.

Arizona passed a new set of immigration laws directed at employers that will take effect in Jan '08. Even though the laws haven't gone into effect, the state is noticing some big changes--illegals are moving, probably to your state. Read about Arizona here.

Since Oklahoma's Randy Terrill submitted tough, new legislation directed at the "illegal" problem in his state, the governor of Missouri has decided his state had better get tough as well. The sweeping changes he's outlined will most certainly get the attention of neighboring lawmakers in Iowa and Illinois. Read about Missouri here.

Everyone agrees that you can't round-up the millions of illegals in this country and deport them. However, if handled like Arizona, Oklahoma, and Missouri, the illegal population will begin to self-deport, first from these states to others, then back to their countries of origin. The sooner the better. (Terrill should use that as his slogan)

THIS JUST IN: Florida attempting to pass similar legislation too.

REVIEWING THE STATE OF MANHOOD--AGAIN

Scanning the blogs, I found a post at Wizbang dealing with the current state of "manhood". Now, this article is old, however, it needs to be reviewed from time-to-time as a reminder of how "men" have been cut-down to size in our ever so tolerate and sensitive society. Also, with the restroom antics of Florida's Bob Allen and Idaho's Larry Craig, I think it's time to read the article again.

PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE TALKS WITH ANDREA--SHOW PODCAST IS UP

The Andrea Shea-King Show last night was a big success. "Thanks" go out to all who showed up and participated in the chat room and to those who tuned-in across the country. The show's making new friends each week.

The show began with Fox News military analyst, Col. David Hunt. He gave a grim assessment of MS-13 gang activity here in the United States. He also touched on the war effort and what he thinks should be done.

We mentioned earlier that the show has extended an open invitation to all the presidential candidates. Republican presidential candidate, Rep. Duncan Hunter of California, took advantage of the opportunity and spent the better part of 30 minutes talking with Andrea. Some of the topics Hunter discussed were immigration, the North American Union, and the latest news on our imprisoned border agents.

Dr. Jerome Corsi just returned from Canada and gave us an after-action report on the status of http://www.spp.gov/.

If you missed the show, here's the link. Click on the show's podcast (8-26). Also, you can listen to Kristinn Taylor's interview from last week. Enjoy.

SACRAMENTO: "ILLEGAL" ARRESTED IN CONNECTION WITH RAILROAD TRESTLE FIRE

Back in March of this year, we had a huge railroad trestle fire in Sacramento. The trestle was old and made of wood, so the fire quickly got out-of-hand, burning for 24 hours. The Union-Pacific line, a vital link with the rest of the country, had to be shut down while a new trestle was being built.

Federal authorities now have a suspect in custody, and, you guessed it, he's in this country illegally. What's more, he's been through our court system many times, once even doing time in prison. From the Sacramento Bee (reg req):

"A Salvadoran national in the United States illegally is the subject of an ongoing federal investigation and is under indictment for allegedly lying about his whereabouts at the time of the March 15 blaze that destroyed the Union Pacific Railroad trestle along the American River Parkway, a federal prosecutor confirmed Monday.

In order to keep José Eduardo Moran-Marques, who is homeless, from disappearing while the investigation continued, he was arrested as a vagrant and then rearrested by federal authorities on May 18 on a charge of re-entering the United States illegally after being deported on Aug. 1, 2003."

Here's some background on our "illegal guest":

"Moran-Marques, who has six aliases and has provided authorities with at least two birth dates, was arrested in February in Sacramento County on a misdemeanor drug possession charge, according to court and jail records.

His criminal history in Sacramento includes three separate drunken driving charges to which he pleaded no contest in 2005, resulting in just over a year in prison and five years of probation, court records show."

No rush to judgement here, just reporting the news. I'll post more as the story progresses.

LAST NIGHT AND TONIGHT

This morning I got involved in a project that took more of my attention than I planned on. So, I didn't get around to the post I was planning to do: Free Republic v. Bill O'Reilly, et al.

The Radio Patriot
has some details (bottom of post) about last night's show as well as audio of the show. However, it's the full-length show audio--later we'll have just Kristinn's interview posted.

For now, I suggest tuning to BOR tonight to see if he mentions the Free Republic problem.

A special thanks to all the fine folks who participated in the chat room last night. It was great to see so many of you at one time. Again, thanks for coming by to support Kristinn.

Blogger will be shutting down within the hour, so I'm out of here.

Oh, one more thing, here's a picture for Mr. O'Reilly (or his producer) so he can get a sense of what Freepers, and Kristinn, are all about. No hate here--just lots of love and support for our troops. (click to enlarge)

FREE REPUBLIC CONSIDERING LAWSUIT AGAINST BILL O'REILLY AND FOX AFFILIATE

Free Republic's Kristinn Taylor is a regular guest on the Andrea Shea King Show, so when Kristinn sent out his press release Friday, Andrea quickly set up a conference call with him--Orlando, Washington DC, and Folsom--to gather more details about the possibility of a lawsuit against O'Reilly and a Fox Affiliate, and to book Kristinn on Sunday night's show.

You're probably wondering what this is all about, right? The details are posted at The Radio Patriot and at Heading Right. Links for tonight's show with Kristinn Taylor are listed below. Lots of people will be tuned to the show and in the "live" chat room. Be there. I'll have my thoughts posted after tonight's show.

***Andrea Shea-King Show, 580 WDBO, Orlando, Live streaming beginning at 9 PM Eastern--Sunday.

WE REMEMBER YOU

How time flies. 30 years ago today, Elvis died. 42 years old. I never saw him in concert but wish I had. From rock-and-roll, ballads, and Gospel--he had something for everyone. So, where were you when you first heard the news of Elvis' death?

As I often did, I left the radio on all night while sleeping in my bunk at Ft. Ord. In the morning, the radio was playing one Elvis song after another. No one was talking between the songs--it was just one after another. Finally, the disc-jockey made the announcement. Tragic. Here's his obit from the BBC and the WaPo.

Elvis prepares backstage for what would be his last concert, then goes onstage to perform the first song. Market Square Arena, Indianapolis, Indiana. June 26, 1977.

WAR IN THE PACIFIC COMES TO AN END

I've been following some of the historic events of 1945 that led to the end of WWII. First I covered the Aug 6th bombing of Hiroshima; then the bombing of Nagasaki 3 days later on Aug 9th.

Today, Aug 14, 1945, the Japanese Empire surrendered to the allied forces, bring an end to hostilities in the Pacific region.

Next to be covered: The signing of the Instruments of Surrender.

WHERE THERE'S SMOKE, THERE'S FIRE

Sometimes while watching the news on tv, listening to the various radio programs, or reading the papers and blogs, I can't believe the challenges our Nation faces from both inside and outside our borders. Have you ever made a list of many threats we face?

Often I challenge friends to list all the major things in our Nation that are going well, then list all the major things that are not going well. Try it. Trust me, if you're honest, the list of things "not going well" is lengthy, while the "going well" list might have a few items on it, if that.

There has never been a nation on earth as great as this one. We all know this. Our ability to do great things while enjoying a high standard of living is a function of one thing: a strong economic machine. Today, however, our economic machine is in such bad shape that people don't talk about it, especially politicians. Ever notice that? I could go on and on, but I won't. I'll let someone else do the talking about this subject.

David Walker, the man who heads the GAO, issued a rather sobering report about our Nation's economic outlook. Brace yourself. Here's a snip:

David Walker, comptroller general of the US, issued the unusually downbeat assessment of his country’s future in a report that lays out what he called “chilling long-term simulations”.

These include “dramatic” tax rises, slashed government services and the large-scale dumping by foreign governments of holdings of US debt.

Drawing parallels with the end of the Roman empire, Mr Walker warned there were “striking similarities” between America’s current situation and the factors that brought down Rome, including “declining moral values and political civility at home, an over-confident and over-extended military in foreign lands and fiscal irresponsibility by the central government”.

“Sound familiar?” Mr Walker said. “In my view, it’s time to learn from history and take steps to ensure the American Republic is the first to stand the test of time.”

I can hear you asking: How in God's name did we get into this mess? I think you know the answer to that one. Now, what are we going to do about it? Read the entire article.

Read Mr. Walker's presentation here. (you'll need to enlarge the font)

SECOND JAPANESE CITY SUFFERS ATOMIC BLAST

August 9, 1945--Nagasaki. From the BBC.

Since Japan failed to surrender after the first atomic bomb exploded over Hiroshima on August 6th, U.S. forces dropped a 2nd atomic device on the city of Nagasaki. Days later, Japan would surrender and World War II would come to a close.

Next: The signing of the instruments of surrender on the deck of the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay.

GROUND ZERO

History books are filled with the ugliness of war, but war was never so ugly as it was on this day in 1945. On that morning, 62 years ago, citizens of Hiroshima began the day as any other; shortly after 8 am their city no longer existed--the ugliness and sheer destructive power of war had arrived in their city.

Historians still argue whether the dropping of the first atomic bomb was indeed necessary, and they'll continue to argue about it for centuries. But, this is not the point of this post. After 6 decades, we have come full-circle and are again faced with the possibility of someone using an atomic bomb. This time, however, an American city will be at ground zero. That, I think, is the point of this post.

Something to think about.

***Here in Sacramento, survivors remember the day.

TEXAS STANDS UP FOR ITS BELIEFS

The great state of Texas has changed its state "pledge of allegiance". The change becomes effective when students return to school later this month. As good as this news is, I can't see it going into effect without a fight somewhere down the road. Just watch. After all, this could catch on across the Nation, and someone has to protect the children. See what they added. More info here.

***Also, Texas recently lost one of its great citizens. A woman who made it her business to see that history books reflect the correct history of our Nation. Norma Gabler--R.I.P.

BARRY BONDS, BASEBALL, AND THE BAY AREA--ALL LOSERS IN THIS ONE

In his latest article, Jack Cashill writes about Barry Bonds and his quest for the home run record now held by the Great Hank Aaron. After Bonds breaks Aaron's record, most fans, I think, will still regard Aaron as the rightful holder of that record.

However, fans from San Francisco will continue to fall all over themselves praising the greatness of Bonds.

Why? Well, read Cashill's article and he'll give you a little insight into the Bay Area and its culture of "anything goes". And, if you're not up-to-speed on the Bonds controversy, you will be after reading this one. (photo hat tip: Greybeard)
