WASHINGTON — Seat restraints, pressure suits and helmets of the doomed crew of the space shuttle Columbia didn't work well, leading to "lethal trauma" as the out-of-control ship lost pressure and broke apart, killing all seven astronauts, a new NASA report says. At least one crewmember was alive and pushing buttons for half a minute after a first loud alarm sounded, as he futilely tried to right Columbia during that disastrous day Feb. 1, 2003.--Continue reading. I never saw this coming. From the Sacramento Bee:
When Walter Cronkite was considering retirement, Roger Mudd was on CBS' short list of replacements. I always liked Mudd but I'm not sure he would've been as entertaining as Rather turned out to be. Marathon Pundit did a post mentioning Ted Kennedy and the famous interview with Roger Mudd. I tried to find it and failed. I did find this little gem of Mudd recounting a couple stories from back in the 60s.
Back in 2005, president Bush went AWOL on us. Remember, he just won re-election, wanted to spend all that political capital and never got around to it. Something happened, but what?
Today I read an article that dealt with MSM bias and the danger of letting it operate unchecked. The article focuses initially on Newsweek mag but expands from there with other examples of bias. The most important aspect of the article was about putting a stop to the bias. The idea is extreme and plenty of folks will oppose it on those grounds, but we no longer have a choice in the matter. The MSM must be stopped. Here's a snip from The Bulletin:
In 2009, we'll still be facing economic crisis, bailouts, rising unemployment and probably a couple international events. Quite possibly, a domestic terror attack. In other words, we'll be distracted with one crisis after another.
Have you had a chance to stop, catch your breath, and look back on all the changes we've been through in recent months? Because so much has taken place, it's difficult to put it all together from memory. And then there's trying to figure out why it happened and who the hell's the blame. Two things are certain: our lives have been forever changed, and the government isn't asking why this happened.
Recently, Jack Cashill was pulled over and ticketed for speeding through a school zone he didn't know existed. Well, it did. Cashill writes about this experience but it isn't the ticket that's the center of attention, it's the name on the school. Class will now begin.
The electors have cast their ballots and it's official: Obama has been confirmed as the winner of last month's election. Obama's NEXT STOP is Washington D.C. for the official swearing-in ceremony on January 20. Read about the electors' vote here.
I'll risk being labeled a "truther" by posting the SCOTUS update re Obama's birth/citizenship issues. Let me be clear: I don't care about your opinion. But to be crystal clear, if your opinion happens to begin with "Has anybody here seen Bush's birth certificate?"--leave now and head over to the New York Times. They'll have something more to your liking.

Hello, it's Melanie Morgan, Chairman of Move America Forward (the nation's largest pro-troop organization) and I have a favor to ask of you.
If you're watching your retirement account lose value month after month, you're not alone. The experts on tv, or even your personal adviser, are telling you to relax, hang in there until the market rebounds. You know, like it always does. I'm no expert but I do know we're going through an unprecedented financial crisis that doesn't appear to be getting any better. In fact, it's spreading.
