Whenever I get the chance to point out that Nevada's economy is going down the progressive drain, I relish the opportunity.
Lake Tahoe, like Las Vegas and Reno, is suffering through our ongoing economic freefall. But, according to some, there's good news on the horizon, because a study suggests that Tahoe needs to shift away from gambling--the economic engine of Tahoe--to a more eco-friendly economy.
These folks refer to this as "eco or geotourism." In other words, a lot of yoga festivals with music. This is the plan to save the Lake Tahoe region. Can't you just hear the cash registers ringing?
"If the Tahoe Basin economy must shift – as a recently unveiled study suggests – from relying on gamblers to appealing to environmentally conscious tourists, events such as the Wanderlust Yoga & Music Festival are its future." --continue reading.
Here's my plan: On November 2nd, go to your polling station and vote for Sharron Angle. Then, go down ticket and vote out every last one of these progressive democrats and weak, rino republicans, and then, and only then, will Nevada have a fighting chance at survival.

I was just wondering when you declare a depression, or does the govt just continue on with the endless recession declaration. "Summer of Recovery" and all that. What constitutes a depression? Here's a look--you decide if we're in one. Obama says we're not, that we're well into the recovery phase but that it will take time, you know. Obama lies most of the time at a 180 degree angle. So, I wonder...
"There is no widely agreed definition for a depression, though some have been proposed. In the United States the National Bureau of Economic Research determines contractions and expansions in the business cycle, but does not declare depressions.[1]
"Generally, periods labeled depressions are marked by a substantial and sustained shortfall of the ability to purchase goods relative to the amount that could be produced using current resources and technology (potential output).[2] Another proposed definition of depression includes two general rules: 1) a decline in real GDP exceeding 10%, or 2) a recession lasting 2 or more years."

Dick Armey does a great job debating the Tea Party's point of view. His opponent, however, thinks progress is only possible when the government is involved. This is the mindset we're up against.

At 08:15, Japan Standard Time, 65 years ago today, Colonel Paul W. Tibbets piloted a B-29, the "Enola Gay," over Hiroshima and released the first atomic bomb. "Little Boy" was a 15 kiloton atomic warhead that changed the world forever.

PRINCETON, NJ -- Sixty-seven percent of U.S. adults drink alcohol, a slight increase over last year and the highest reading recorded since 1985 by one percentage point. Beer remains the favorite beverage among drinkers, followed by wine and then liquor.--Continue reading.
Drinking alcohol to excess is no laughing matter. But during stressful times, here and abroad, certain segments of society look for an outlet in hopes of easing what stresses them. Outside of social consumption, it's never the right approach. Comedy, however, is a great reliever of stress, even when it's about drinking too much. The Tonight Show, Starring Johnny Carson brought us many moments about drinking a bit too much, and here's a couple classics. Enjoy.
UPDATE: Newsy.com has a video report on this spike in drinking.
